Employee Ownership
- Owned by our people, driven by our purpose
In March 2024, we took the step of becoming one of the UK’s first employee-owned law firms. Through our Employee Ownership Trust (EOT), 60% of the firm’s shares are now owned by our employees. The move, designed to recognise the valued contribution of all employees across the business, will also give staff the opportunity to put themselves forward to join the firm’s management team to represent their colleagues, giving them full oversight and decision-making power across all aspects of the business.
As part of its ongoing commitment to offering a supportive, dynamic, and rewarding workplace for all, the decision to become employee-owned makes Fenchurch Law one of the first law firms in the UK to adopt this model, which has seen significant success in other sectors with insurance broker Howden, retail group John Lewis and cosmetics brand Lush.

“This is the natural next step for Fenchurch Law, as we have always wanted to create a real feeling that everyone is in it together. Becoming employee-owned cements our progressive and unique values. It gets rid of the ‘us’ and ‘them’ mentality and enables every member of the firm to share rewards and responsibilities. It enables us to ensure that every member of the team has the opportunity to be fully involved with the ins and outs of the firm.”

What Employee Ownership Means to our EOT Directors
Daniel Robin, Deputy Managing Partner
“I see the EOT as a continuation of the journey that the firm has been on since I first joined in 2018. The focus has very much always been that the employees are the firm, and that the firm very much stands or falls as a result of the collective. One thing that immediately attracted me to the firm was the knowledge that every employee can influence what happens here and have a say in how the firm is run. The EOT cements that and ensures that every member of the team is not only able to contribute but has a responsibility to do so in order to move the firm forward.”
Chloe Franklin, Associate
“Whilst becoming employee-owned is somewhat uncommon, it is in complete alignment with the Fenchurch Law values. The firm has always promoted an environment where employees have been encouraged to contribute to the future of the firm and this step has confirmed it.”
Donna Baldwin, Practice Manager
“Since joining the firm in 2010 it became apparent very quickly that Fenchurch Law was going to be a firm where the views of all the team were considered and respected. Becoming an EOT is just the next step in ensuring that all the team have a say in how the firm is run. We all now have the chance to take responsibility in ensuring the firm reaches its goals.”
Michael Hayes, Business Development Manager
“This move truly reflects our commitment to a collaborative and inclusive workplace where every team member has a stake in our success. I’m excited to see the positive impact this employee ownership model will have on our firm’s future.”
