Our History
Fenchurch Law was established in 2010, in the wake of the 2007 financial crisis, a period that brought significant challenges to the insurance industry. As the crisis unfolded, many London market insurers adopted a more rigid stance towards claims, with some routinely seeking to avoid paying valid claims. It became increasingly evident to our founders that policyholders were often inadequately represented, as their solicitors lacked the specialist knowledge required to effectively advocate on their behalf.
Recognising this gap, Fenchurch Law opened it’s London office in the heart of the London Insurance Market to provide policyholders with access to the same high-quality, specialist legal advice that insurers had enjoyed for decades. Our mission from the outset has been to deliver unparalleled legal services exclusively to policyholders, ensuring that they are represented with the same level of expertise and commitment that insurers receive.
The firm’s international expansion began in September 2024 with the opening of our Singapore office. This office was established to work with policyholders and brokers across Singapore and the wider Asia-Pacific region, providing first-class support on high-value, complex commercial insurance coverage disputes, just as we have done in the London Market since 2010.
This expansion followed the firm’s transition to an employee-owned business model through the launch of an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT), which awarded 60% of the firm’s shares to its employees. Fenchurch Law is proud to be the first EOT business to operate in Singapore.
